UI design for project browser or launcher tool
I am a strong believer in many different ways to show the same data. I know you are working on a new browser UI, but here is a dream scenario of mine that I would like to share and hopefully it can inspire to some new things.
1. Projects always on display on left side with categories for better organization
2. Custom tabs for different views or libraries, customize for your needs.
3. Minimalistic filters for each part of the UI
4. Show products based on what entities you have selected
5. Horizontal browsing for moving fast between different projects, tasks and workfiles
6. Relevant information for selected entities (with added text field)
* I also suggest to remove the current web launcher and instead enable double click on each work file to open the file.
* Ability to add thumbnails in every step for easier overview

Thank you @Olle Rydberg some of these concepts are really nice and we’ll have a look at how we could incorporate them into the desktop browser/loader and launcher. There are some other reworks on that front planned too, so we’ll keep you posted.

You have taken some reference from the web ui of ayon server..
Just double checking, is your suggestion about
new browser ui design?or is it for web server ui?
Olle Rydberg
This could be the browser or launcher.
Or combine the two to a beautiful baby :)
This is mainly as inspiration and exactly where it’s implemented I do not have the answer.

Sorry I’m a bit confused, are you referring to the project
browsertab on ayon serverOR the products
browsertool in the ayon launcherOlle Rydberg
I was thinking about the browser tab in web.
But it was mainly as inspiration as it also could work just as good for the launcher (since launcher and browser are pretty much the same thing to me)

Cool, I haven’t seen a design like this before! Although I think we have slightly different plans for the browser, mainly because it will serve a different purpose, we will certainly take this as inspiration. Thanks @olle!
FYI: I this custom design could be achieved quite easily as a custom addon, if you were interested in trying out some web development…
