I think the timelogger of NIM is pretty good.
    It’s extremely simple, but effective.

1 think that should not be underestimate is: artist HATE logging time.
It should be so fucking simple and cost no time.
I think if it’s more difficult than it really should artist tent not to use it.

I once have written a timelogger around ftrack. It would locally write down the context changes during the day, egg when you open a task in a dcc, plus the time of course. Then at the end of the day it would calculate based on the context changes how much time was spent on each task and present that in list to the Artist, then the artist could change everything, duration, add missing tasks, remove tasks and then commit the data… so even if you missed timelogging for a week you would have a skeleton of at least what you opened through the pipe with rough estimations, simply by summarizing the time spent between context changes.

old screenshot… in the middle are the assigned tasks, on the right would be the logs from the selected day… one could select multiple tasks in the middle and then through the buttons on the left assign hours to them, or select 8 tasks egg and split say 4 hours on them with one click…

One request for time tracking would be to include a simple sheet function. Basically a table where you can enter all hours for the entire week in one go. This is good if you are working on multiple tasks and quickly want to add all hours at the end of the day.

Below is an example from Clickup with tasks on the left and time entry on the right

This is a great point. At the end of the day the tracking needs to have an option to be as simple to input as possible as automations can fail or not work as intended.

I also agree. Because automated timers are really not an ideal solution.

Good old sheet is often better, especially if it’s integrated in the asset manager.
