Check link dependencies when deleting
It would help a lot if AYON was smart about how everything in the pipeline was connected.
For example when you delete a product it would be good if it could detect if that product is currently used in a project or not.
“Are you sure you want to delete render v003, it is being used in animation v004”
I know the node graph feature is visualizing all connections so it’s more a matter of making use of those connections in other places (for instance when you try to delete something).
A right click function to view dependencies would also be helpful. Does not have to be node graph, a list of products copied to clipboard is also a good start.

This is a bit more involved that it might seem, but it is a pretty solid request we’ll have a look at a bit more.

The term dependencies in AYON can have multiple meanings depending on the context, I’d recommend updating the the request’s title (if the website doesn’t allow you let me know, I can do it on your behalf)
To be very explicit about your request. when deleting products via browser, you’d like to get (report/summary) to inform your if it’s safe or not to delete the product version?
this summary includes:
- linked folders- linked products- where the product is loaded (I'm not sure if such information is saved)Olle Rydberg
Yes basically a warning which version are in use and as you say some info where it’s being used would be helpful.
The UI itself could be a bit more advanced as well. Maybe show all versions at once and then show somehow which ones are in use.
But of course start with something simple and then in future go crazy with UI.
Here is a ugly example I made. Of course need to be polished a bit :)

@Mustafa Zaky Jafar And you are correct I am unable to rename or edit the original post

featurebase doesn’t allow it at the moment. let me know what title you’d like and I’ll update it for you.

Can I specifically ask where you are deleting versions?
1. When deleting folders or tasks we check if they are used in the pipeline and warn the user they are about to delete something that could potentially break the pipeline. It doesn’t tell you exactly where it is used but it probably could.
Re: A right click function to view dependencies
This is something we have planned and would essentially be an uglier but just as functional version of the node graph. Links can be anything, so it’s more than just an asset is used somewhere.

I am deleting using the browser (I think that is the only place where you can delete files through AYON?)
I am using the delete old version function and I had no problem deleting all versions even though they were being used in other work files.
I does ask me if I am sure I want to delete but it does not give any warnings about a specific version being used in production.
Basically I want it to tell me what versions I can safely delete and which are being used somewhere
